About Greg Wooten

Greg Wooten is a Los Angeles–based collector, musician and design purveyor whose collection is the source of Marred for Life!

Over the course of several years, Wooten and a community of fellow record collectors discovered hundreds of altered LP covers tucked away in used-record bins. Lovingly and mischievously vandalized by anonymous music lovers, the covers range from subtle interventions to outrageous transformations. Bloodshot eyes, blackened teeth, moustaches, tattoos, reviews, love letters, collage, psychedelic additions and other embellishments turn familiar album covers into a kind of found folk art.

The collection includes altered covers featuring Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, Yoko Ono, Nina Simone, Led Zeppelin, Sparks, LL Cool J, David Bowie, The Velvet Underground, Mose Allison, Prince, Tim Buckley, Neil Young and many more.
